Chairman meets new UK Chief Veterinary Officer
James Baxter met the new UK Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO), Christine Middlemiss, at a meeting between the Poultry Health and Welfare Group and the UK’s CVO Group at Noble House on 19 April. Christine has taken over from Nigel Gibbens who stepped down at the end of February 2018 following 10 years in the post.
Christine was previously the CVO in New South Wales, Australia since August 2016. She comes from a farming family in the south of Scotland, with a background in beef cattle and sheep.
James also attended a meeting of the Defra’s AI Core Group where he emphasised BFREPA’s opposition to England’s approach of splitting the country into Higher Risk Areas during a housing order.
