The Commission’s third attempt to reach consensus amongst the EU expert group (a Management Committee of representatives from the 28 Member States, including Defra) succeeded on 20 July when its proposal for an extension of the derogation for free range marketing status from housed hens was increased from the current 12 weeks to 16 weeks.
