Freedom Food launches Hettie the Hen animation
A sixty second cartoon, set in a fictional supermarket and starring Hettie the Hen was launched recently by social media.
The cartoon, which will be accessed via the Freedom Food website, is designed to show consumers the importance of selecting eggs from hens that have not been reared in cages.
Directed and animated by Laurie J Proud and produced by Demon Studio, the animation has attracted interest from a range of organisations who have pledged to post it on social media outlets during the Week. These include Sainsbury’s, Hamleys, the National Trust and the RSPCA amongst others.
Celebrity chefs such as Antony Worrall Thompson and Paul Merrett have pledged to tweet the link to their followers and include the animation on their websites and on facebook. The RSPCA will also use the animation on their YouTube channel.
Liam Kurzeja, Consumer Marketing Manager for Freedom Food said: "Sainsbury’s alone have over 180,000 followers on facebook and we will also be putting up links on our popular Simply Ask facebook site. We are expecting it will generate considerable interest".
Nine year old James Watson Gandy ’stars’ alongside Hettie in the animation. He won a competition, run by Freedom Food in conjunction with toy giant, Hamleys. Children were asked to consider the welfare needs of hens and to help design the character of Hettie the Hen
